The Shofar is the ancient trumpet which called the people of God to prayer, repentance, sacrifice and war.

OLMYPIC MOSQUE VS. THE BIBLE

A mosque is regarded as an abomination in the sight of Almighty God.  The fact that a rival religion to a rival god has a place of worship on the Temple mount is an abomination of desolation to Jews (Dan. 9:27 11:31 12:11 ; Mt. 24:15; Mk. 13:14 ).  The Dome of the Rock – which has the Arabic words for ‘Allah begets no son’ inscribed inside it - is equally offensive, even blasphemous, to Christians.  Because Islam is a rival religion, one which rejects the God-incarnate, crucified, risen, ascended Messiah and Son of God the Lord Jesus Christ,  a mosque is an abomination wherever in the world it is placed (Ps. 24:1).

The Bible does not dismiss false gods as imaginary entities; rather, it acknowledges that the gods of other nations are real spiritual powers, but shows that they are inferior to the God of Abraham.  ‘Who is like thee, O Lord, among the gods?’ (Exodus 15:11) ‘God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods.’ (Ps. 82:1) ‘For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.’ (Ps. 95:3; see also Ps. 86:8; 89:6; 96:4; 97:9; 135:5; 1 Cor. 8:5-6).

The implications of this are sobering.  When a person worships a god who is not the true God, they are worshiping and empowering unseen principalities and powers that have already been defeated by Christ on the cross (1 Cor. 10:20 ; Eph. 6:12 ; Col. 1:16-20; Phil. 2:9-11).

This is exactly what happens in a mosque.  When Muslims go into a mosque and bow down before their false god, ‘Allah’ (‘the god’ in Arabic) they are engaging in idol worship without realizing it.  It is only necessary to look at the symbol of Islam, the crescent moon, to realize the identity of the real spirit behind Islam.  It follows that a mosque is a place where demonic principalities and powers are glorified.   The God of the Bible is the only Creator and Almighty God (Ex. 15:11 ; Ps. 86:8-10; 135:5), not ‘Allah’, the god of Islam.

We also oppose the mosque since it is one more way of undermining the truth that our nation belongs to the Lord Almighty (1 Sam. 2:8; Ps. 24). Muslims have always understood the importance of buildings and they know that on the back of the high-visibility Games, a mega-mosque would make a very powerful statement about the growing demands of Islam in this land.  It is not only the Lord God Almighty who is ‘a jealous god’ (Ex 20:5, 34:14; Deut 4:24 ).

If the Olympic mosque is built, its days will surely be numbered. This is because ‘the adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.’ (1 Sam. 2:10) ‘Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; but the posterity of the righteous will be delivered. (Prov. 11:21) ‘The Lord will…reduce to nothing all the gods of the earth; people shall worship Him, each one from his place, indeed all the shores of the nations.’ (Zeph. 2: 11)

The good news is that there is hope for Muslims if they repent of their sins and turn to Jesus Christ.  A Muslim never knows whether he is forgiven or not.  All is on the whim of ‘Allah.’  He is only sure to enter ‘paradise’ in martyrdom.  That is why Muslims want to die what they see as a martyr’s death.  Christians know they are forgiven in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  Christ died on the cross in order that all people might turn ‘from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.’ (2 Thess. 1:9-10)   Muslims are in a culture of death, Christians live Christ’s risen life.  Allah says ‘Die for me!’  Jesus Christ says: ‘I died for you.’
