CAPITAL HILL PRAYER ALERT

"God has extended His Grace to America in His answers to our prayers. He has shown Himself to be faithful to His Word, granting favour to His people. Yet, vigilance in prayer is still needed. "Today, Christians rejoice at the rescue of eight Christian aid workers from the Taliban in Afghanistan. Americans Dayna Curry and Heather Mercer, two Australians and four Germans, are recovering in Pakistan from their time of imprisonment. The freed aid workers had been accused by the Taliban of preaching Christianity to Muslims in Afghanistan. (We hope they were! - Ed) "Christian members and aid es of both Houses of Congress are also rejoicing over the Senate’s passing of SCR 15, "The National Day of Reconciliation" resolution. The Senate passed the measure late Monday night having passed the House earlier this year. The resolution calls for members of both the House and Senate to come together to seek the blessings of Providence for forgiveness, reconciliation, unity and charity for all people of the United States.

"In the past few months, over 600,000 individuals have pledged to pray for President George W. Bush on a daily basis. The Presidential Prayer Team has a goal to mobilise 1% of the population - 2.8 million people - to pray daily for the President. Their web site states, "This effort is non-partisan and invites participation by anyone who prays to the God of the Bible. The Presidential Prayer Team is an independent, non-profit organisation with a single purpose and goal. The goal is simply to incite daily prayer for the Office of the President."

"Beginning Saturday, November 17, 20 million Christians from around the world are expected to join in the tenth annual 30-Day Global Prayer Vigil for the Muslim community. This prayer vigil coincides with the Islamic month of Ramadan. See http://www.hfe.org/prayer/ramadan/30dlist.htm. "If we repent, God could use America...to liberate millions of...Muslims from their repressive religion, and open the now-closed Muslim world to the preaching of the gospel of Christ. If we do not repent, God could multiply our enemies and bring grinding devastation to our proud nation and apostate culture. While we celebrate the goodness of God, let us be vigilant in our prayers of Repentance.

"Please Join Us in Thankful Prayer: Lord, You are so faithful! Thank You for the safe release of the Christian aid workers. Thank You for watching over them. May the seed that they sowed while in Afghanistan bring forth much good fruit. Thank You for causing the Senate to pass the National Day of Reconciliation. Let their time be focussed on reconciliation to YOU! Thank You for the privilege and gift of prayer. Encourage many to use this gift to express Your Heart to the nations. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN" (Ps 105:1-9; 107:1-9; 146:all; 148:all; 150:all).
